The
Software Solution
VQL for Logistics on the GO™ is a suite of software
modules and tools dedicated to distribution, retail, and logistics
applications like Voice Enabled Picking, Returned Goods Receiving,
Inspection & Quality Control, Inventory, and Tracking. It is
multimodal, working with data acquisition technologies such as GPS,
RFID, and barcode readers. The VQL Client software runs on standard
mobile hardware and operating systems.
Voice-Insight also provides its own hardware option that is cost
effective yet fast and accurate.
Voice enabled work routines are especially advantageous in extreme
environments like refrigerated meat grading and packing or noisy,
outdoor equipment inspections. Together with Voice-Insight’s own
wireless BlueVQL-Headsets™ and BlueVQL-SmartTalk™
voice terminals, VQL is a complete and robust solution that effectively
addresses almost any logistics function.
VQL for Logistics on the GO™ covers the whole range of Warehouse
Logistics activities,
- Cycle Counting - Often an integral part of
the Picking process and used as a means to avoid separate periodic
inventories, this routine entails verifying stock remaining at
the pick location after each pick.
- Inspecting / QA - Ensuring goods meet quality
requirements and identifying and sorting unacceptable goods for
special handling. This may be an integrated part of receiving
process or a stand-alone QA check at any point in the warehousing
process.
- Inventory - Performing physical inventory checks
by verifying the correct quantities and products for given inventory
locations.
- Loading - Putting the product in the truck
or container in the right order and orientation for maximum volume
utilization and delivery routing efficiency.
- Picking - Picking products from stock locations
and loading them on jacks or in bins in order to fill an order
or bill of lading.
- Put-away & Transfers - Taking product from
the receiving staging area and putting it away to specified warehouse
shelf locations for storage or transferring stock from one location
to another based on given instructions.
- Receiving - Checking and validating incoming
goods against advanced shipping notice files and staging of goods
for put-away.
- Replenishment - Moving product from storage
locations to the picking area or tunnel.
- Returns Processing and Sorting [Grading]- Identifying,
sorting, and staging products based on how they are to be handled
by the warehouse facility, for example, return to manufacturer,
repair, un-kitting, restock, salvage, auction, recycle.
Functional specifications common to all Logistics modules
- The Sign-on process allows selecting the language in which
the user will work. At start-up, the application will use the
default language, as set by the “VQL Settings” application interface.
- According to the implementation, a variable subset of the following
languages will effectively be supported: English (American &
British), French, Spanish (Castilian & Mexican), German, and
Dutch.
- Switching between languages can occur at any given time by making
the system to pause. The application reacts by interrupting the
job and asking the user to sign-on again. The conversation runs
in the current language at interruption time, witch means that
even if the new uses wants to work in another language, he/she
has to use a (very limited) subset of his/hers predecessor’s language.
